Disc Jockey

A disc jockey (also known as a disk jockey, DJ or deejay) is a person that selects and plays recorded music for an audience. There are several types of disc jockeys namely Radio DJ's, Club DJ's & Mobile DJ's.

A Radio DJ play music that is broadcast on AM, FM, SW and Internet radio stations. A Club DJ selects and plays music in bars, night clubs and discotheques. A Mobile DJ will travel with their own equipment and are able to play music at a variety of events.

There is a big difference between Mobile DJ's and Club DJ's, both their roles are very different and yet both involve music. A Club DJ usually specialises in a specific type of music and will arrive at an event with only his music. A Mobile DJ is able to play a much wider variety of music to cater for almost any party and will bring his own equipment to the event.

The main focus of club DJ's is on the method in which they mix their music while the main focus of mobile DJ's is to ensure the success of the event by assuming multiple roles as sound engineer, event coordinator and lighting director. Both roles are equally importand but fit into different responsibilities.
